Optical Maintenance 101
Whether you’ve been a lifetime glasses wearer or just received your first pair of frames (hopefully from Faces Óptica), it’s important to know eyeglasses aren’t one-size-fits all. Like a well-tuned piano or car, simple maintenance and care is needed to guarantee the longevity and clarity of your glasses. Over time, frames can lose their shape, or your glasses may start to feel uncomfortable. That’s a sure sign it’s time for an optical tune-up.
Here are maintenance services we offer free of charge with your purchase at Faces Óptica:
Adjustments—Proper fit matters. If your glasses slide down your nose, pinch behind your ears, or feel crooked, it’s time for an adjustment. A quick adjustment can improve comfort, ensuring your glasses fit securely and align properly, which can also help you see better.
Nose Cushion Replacements—Dirt build up and visible wear and tear on your nose cushions is bound to happen with time. As the material degrades it can affect the overall fit and comfort of your glasses. If you’ve noticed cracks, tears, discoloration, or persistent red marks after wearing your glasses, this could indicate worn-out nose cushions.
Ultrasonic Cleaning—Through high-frequency sound waves transmitted through liquid, our optical ultrasonic cleaning will scrub clean those hard to sanitize spots on your frames such as the hinges or nose bridges.
Be Aware of Hair Products—Styling aids such as hair dyes and hairspray can eat at the lense coating of your frames, causing the lens to become hazy. Make sure you’re setting them aside while styling and giving your frames a cleaning as needed.
Cleaning Solution Refills—We want to make sure your glasses are staying crystal clear at all times so with every optical purchase you will receive a branded Faces Óptica lens solution bottle. Bring it in any time for a refill!

How to Maintain Sparkling Lenses and Proper Fit In Between Visits:
Handle With Care—Use both hands to remove or put on your eyewear. It’s a hard habit to break but trust us, to avoid bending or widening the temples of your frames, two hands are always better than one!
Use the Right Materials—The eyeglass cloth you received with your purchase or other microfiber cloth is the best way to clean your lenses of smudge marks and fingerprints. Avoid using tissues, paper towels, or your shirt (it’s tempting, we know), as these can scratch the lenses over time.
Give Your Glasses a Deep Clean—When you can, show your glasses some love with a quick rinse with water to remove any grime, dirt or debris. This helps prevent scratching when wiping. Opt for a lens cleaner that’s designed for eyeglasses or you can use just a bit of dish soap (without any harsh chemicals) and warm water.
Protect Them From the Elements—we’ve all been guilty of accidentally leaving a pair of frames in the car but be careful. Hot or cold environments can be a recipe for disaster. Not only can your lenses become damaged but in extreme heat certain materials can become warped or even melt. When you’re not wearing your frames, (optical and sunglasses), we recommend keeping them in their protective case.
